Fun Facts

🚀 THE MAD GENIUS BEHIND IT:

Tasos Papanastasiou (the original owner) is a self-described ‘self-made Cypriot’ who co-founded XM in 2009 alongside Konstantinos Kleanthous and Ilias Mavromatis. XM grew into one of the planet's largest financial forex platforms, with clients in over 190 countries and more than 2.5 billion transactions processed to date.

Papanastasiou is known for keeping an extremely low profile despite his immense wealth. But his vision for “THIS IS IT” was uncompromising from day one, he famously stated: "THIS IS IT was born, not as a concept study, but as a yacht to be built. So, the yacht's design had to be feasible even if it was completely new in terms of contents and style.". Michel Chryssicopoulos, global managing partner at IYC, was the broker who introduced the client to The Italian Sea Group.

🛋️ THE INTERIOR DESIGN:

Interiors were designed by Mattia Piro and Gian Marco Campanino of The Italian Sea Group. The colour palette is dominated by champagne, platinum-grey, beige, with accents of gold, bronze and titanium.

Materials include:

● High-quality leather and Alcantara suede.

● Oak and teak wood.

● Carrara marble (freestanding basins) and Python grey marble (bathrooms)

● Silk wall panels.

● Spray-painted champagne-colored liquid metal on composite walls in the spa.

The main saloon features a leather-clad bar printed to look like elephant skin, enhanced by a Preciosa crystal light fixture with a ribbon-like sculptural shape. The TV lounge has a bronze-painted ceiling creating a cocoon-like enveloping effect.

Interior designer Gian Marco Campanino described the style: "Smooth, cocooning and curvilinear are perfect words to describe the interior of the yacht, plus a touch of pure luxury."

🎪 THE YACHT THAT STUNNED EVERYONE:

”THIS IS IT” made her world premiere at the Monaco Yacht Show in September 2023, and she was the talk of the entire event.

Visitors at the show were reportedly disoriented by the radical asymmetry: the bow could be mistaken for the stern and people's heads were spinning trying to figure out what they were looking at.

Giovanni Costantino, Founder and CEO of The Italian Sea Group, even said: "The realization of this extraordinary project challenges the 'conventional' perceptions, driving us to completely recreate the boundaries of aesthetic parameters.”

🎨 THE INSANE EXTERIOR:

The exterior design of “THIS IS IT” was handled by the Tecnomar Centro Stile (the in-house design team of The Italian Sea Group). The inspiration is a wild cocktail of automotive aerodynamics, sea creature biology and residential civil architecture, not typical yachting design at all.

The external lines are sinuous and soft, while the asymmetric stern and bow are so radical that visitors at the Monaco Yacht Show genuinely couldn't tell which end was which.

Key design elements include:

● Over 600 square metres of curved glass wrapping the superstructure, a major engineering challenge in terms of weight control.

● Bold asymmetrical silhouette with no conventional yacht proportions.

● Curved aluminium arches in the superstructure that pushed the material to its performance limits.

● A waterfall cascading on the side of a glass-sided swimming pool on the aft deck.

● Vertical gardens spanning two decks with integrated lighting and climate control.
